6th Annual Gat-Ku Polespear Meet
Gat-Ku Polespears presents the 6th annual Gat-Ku Polespear Meet on Saturday September 3rd, 2011 to benefit Youth Venture Teen Centers. This spearfishing meet is OPEN TO EVERYONE. FREEDIVING ONLY. Let’s put away our high tech Riffes, Wongs, Rob-Allens and custom bazookas for a fun day of diving back to where all of our original roots lie in this great sport of spearfishing – the traditional way, pole spearing!
Plaques will be awarded to first, second, and third. Other prizes will be announced. A BBQ with food and BEER at weigh-in will also be provided for registered divers.
Rules
1. All divers must register before midnight of September 2nd, 2011. T-shirt is included with registration by August 25th. T-shirts will be distributed at weigh-in only.

2. Divers must begin after dawn, 5:52 AM. Diving is permitted anywhere in California ocean waters. Meet ends at 3:00 p.m. and all fish must be inside catch
circle by 3:30 p.m. sharp. Weigh-in location is James and Joseph’s, 2040 Harbor Island Drive, San Diego. Fish must be personally presented by the diver – NO EXCEPTIONS.
3. Scoring is based on species and weight (rounded to the nearest 1/2 lb increment). No more than three fish per diver and no more than two per species.
Species score as follows:
(3) Points/lb. for Sculpin, Calico, Sandbass, Cabezon, Corbina, Croaker, WSB, YT, Bonita, Barracuda, Halibut
(1) Point/lb. for all others
All fish must be taken in compliance with California Fish and Game regulations. Sharks, rays, molas and eels are not permitted.
4. Competitors must possess a valid CA fishing license.
5. Fish may only be taken while freediving and with a polespear of any length.
